Senior Congress leader and senior Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal has raised questions on the Supreme Court regarding the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in UP. In fact, when the Supreme Court did not take suo motu cognizance of this matter, Sibal expressed surprise in a tweet saying that people are being killed, crushed, but the Supreme Court is not taking cognizance. He has requested the highest court of the country to take action in this matter.

Kapil Sibal wrote in his tweet that, “There was a time when the Supreme Court, in the absence of YouTube and social media, used to take suo motu cognizance only on the basis of the news published in the print media. The Supreme Court also listened to the voices of the voiceless. Whereas today when our citizens are being trampled on and they are being killed, the Supreme Court is requested to take cognizance of it.

Let us tell you that the Congress seems very active regarding the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri. Where Priyanka Gandhi was not allowed to meet the victims’ families and is kept in custody at Sitapur PAC Guest House. On Wednesday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against the government by holding a press conference.

Rahul Gandhi said, “The Prime Minister was in Lucknow yesterday (October 5) but he could not go to Lakhimpur Kheri. Today (October 6) we will try to meet those families by going to Lakhimpur Kheri along with 2 Chief Ministers. Rahul Gandhi said, “Section 144 is applicable in Lakhimpur Kheri, it only stops 5 people, we 3 people are going. We have written them a letter. The job of the opposition is to create pressure so that action is taken.”

On the allegation of politics being done by the opposition on this issue, Rahul said, “The job of the opposition is to create pressure. The same thing happened in Hathras. The government wants us not to pressurize us and those who did the murders should run away. That’s why we are pressurizing, because farmers have been wronged, they have been killed.”
