New election symbol for Shiv Sena will prove to be ‘revolutionary’
Mumbai Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday expressed hope that a new election symbol could prove to be “revolutionary” for the party, further strengthening it in future. All these things Raut said while interacting informally with media persons outside the court, where he was brought for his bail application, last week by the Election Commission of India (ECI) from Shiv Sena. The question was raised on banning the iconic ‘bow and arrow’ symbol and its name (Shiv Sena).
Raut said, this is not the first time. Indira Gandhi had also gone through a similar situation in the past and the election symbol of the Congress was changed thrice and the Janata Dal also went through a similar experience. On freezing the name of the ‘Shiv Sena’ party by the Election Commission (October 8), he said that it will not make any difference, as the ‘spirit of the party’ remains the same, and people are already Only you know whose party it is. Raut claimed, it will not be so easy for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s group to get Shiv Sena’s name and party’s symbol before the upcoming Andheri East by-elections. Entire Maharashtra is from Shinde faction. disturbed.
The army’s firebrand MP is currently in judicial custody following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on August 1 in an alleged case related to money laundering and other charges. Meanwhile, both the ECI Thackeray group and the Shinde faction submitted three names and three symbols for the Election Commission’s consideration. The Thackeray side has named ‘trishul’, ‘rising sun’ and ‘burning torch’ and ‘Shiv Sena-Prabodhan Thackeray’, ‘Shiv Sena-Balasaheb P. Thackeray’ and ‘Shiv Sena-Uddhav B Thackeray’. The Shinde Paksha has given symbols like ‘trishul’, ‘Ugta Suraj’ (similar to Thackeray’s group) and ‘Gada’ (against the ‘flaming torch’ of the Thackeray group), weaving in combination with the late Balasaheb Thackeray.
