New Delhi. Congress general secretary Ajay Maken has left the post of in-charge of Rajasthan. He wrote a letter to the party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge on November 8, in which he has asked to leave the post of in-charge of Rajasthan and appoint a new in-charge. The party’s factionalism has again come to the fore when Maken resigned from the post in-charge just before the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress reached Rajasthan.
In the letter, Ajay Maken has also raised the issue of revolt of MLAs of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot faction on September 25 and no action taken against them. He has written that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is coming to Rajasthan in the first week of December and by-elections are being held on December 4. In such a situation, it is necessary to appoint a new in-charge of Rajasthan.
Significantly, on September 25, Ajay Maken as in-charge and Mallikarjun Kharge as special observers had reached Jaipur for a special meeting of the Congress Legislature Party. Both were present in the meeting but a group of MLAs boycotted the Legislature Party meeting. After this, Kharge and Maken went to Delhi and gave a report to the then President Sonia Gandhi. On the basis of this report, notices were issued to ministers Shanti Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi and RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathod.
The three leaders also replied to the notice issued by the party, but now the matter has been put in cold storage. The three leaders were held responsible for boycotting the Legislature Party meeting and calling it at Dhariwal’s house. In his letter, Ajay Maken, referring to the political uproar on September 25, has pointed out that no action has been taken so far. Meanwhile, there is news that Dharmendra Rathore has also got the responsibility of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
