Mahela Jayawardene said, ‘It is difficult. I have just counted that I have been in Quarantine and Bio bubble for 135 days since June and I am in the final stage. I completely understand and I said that I will be with the team through technology. I hope one can understand that as a father I haven’t seen my daughter for so long. I definitely want to go back home.

Coaching was also given to Mumbai Indians

The former Sri Lankan captain was the head coach of the Southern Braves team that won The Hundred. He moved to UAE after the tournament and coached Mumbai Indians during the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Sri Lanka will face the Netherlands in their last match of the first round. His match will be in Sharjah on Friday (22 October).

Jayawardene said that we will change the way we play in Sharjah. In Super 12, we have three games in Sharjah, one in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi, so our template and strategy will change depending on the surface.
