Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has once again targeted BJP. He tweeted after the name of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra appeared in the chargesheet in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case and wrote, “After the SIT’s report in the Lakhimpur murder case, it has become clear that everything was well planned.” The son of the Minister of State for Home is the main accused in the case. After the chargesheet, there is no scope to retain Teni in the cabinet. The government should immediately sack Ajay Teni.
After the Lakhimpur violence, a statement of BKU leader Rakesh Tikait became a topic of discussion. He had said, ‘A convoy of cars trampled four farmers in Lakhimpur, in response to which two BJP workers were killed. It was a reaction instead of an action. I do not consider those involved in the murder as criminals. Rakesh Tikait had demanded the resignation of the Union Minister of State for Home even at that time, saying that until the resignation of the minister, there could be no investigation. Can any officer raise questions against a Minister of State for Home? The agreement also demanded that the minister should resign. If our demand is not accepted, we will consider again.
In Lakhimpur on 3 October 2021, a car crushed the farmers, after which the farmers were furious and some BJP workers were killed in the violence. The charge sheet related to this case was filed on 3 January 2022. Ajay Teni’s son Ashish Mishra is also named in this 5000-page chargesheet. Talking to a news channel, Ajay Teni had said after the Lakhimpur violence that he would resign if there was even a single evidence of his son’s presence at the spot. Ajay Mishra Teni had said, ‘He was not at the spot, police should collect evidence and if you show even a single video of my son’s presence, I will resign from the minister.’
Before the filing of the chargesheet, Rakesh Tikait had targeted the BJP over the Lakhimpur case. He raised the question that why the government wants to save Ajay Mishra Teni. Ajay Mishra himself should resign on moral grounds. However, Rakesh Tikait expressed satisfaction in the investigation into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Tikait said that the investigation is absolutely fine.
Apart from Rakesh Tikait, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet also demanded the sacking of Ajay Mishra Teni and said that how can a person whose son has been made the main accused, hold the post of Minister of State for Home of the country. They should be sacked.
