Accused ministers enjoying facilities like ‘five-star hotel’ in jail: Anurag Thakur

Jaipur. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Wednesday hit out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), saying its ministers, who have been in jail for six months on corruption charges, are enjoying the facilities of a five-star hotel. Thakur told reporters here that the AAP health minister has been in jail for the last six months and is enjoying special facilities and massages in jail. He said that you are a living example of how special facilities are enjoyed in jail by doing corruption.

He reacted after a video purportedly showing Minister Satyendar Jain having food inside the jail went viral. However, Jain’s lawyer has claimed that the video has been tampered with. Thakur said, they lie so much. Coming to the court, they talk about the difficulty of eating and the food plate is probably such that they are not available in a five-star hotel, a better plate is available in the jail than that. Also ‘mineral water’ (bottled water) is available and massage is also done there. Thakur said that this is the model of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of AAP Aadmi Party where the facilities of five-star hotel are being provided to the minister in the jail.

He said, do corruption and Arvind Kejriwal gives certificate of honesty to all those who are in jail for six months each… This is the model of Arvind Kejriwal. He said that the people of Gujarat will not accept a party whose ministers are facing corruption cases in Punjab and Delhi. He said that AAP had made tall claims in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh as well, but even the deposits of their candidates were confiscated there. Thakur said, the deposits of AAP candidates were forfeited in all the assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh and the party could not win a single seat in Uttarakhand.

The people of Gujarat will not accept the party whose health minister of Punjab government had to resign in a corruption case and the education minister of Delhi is embroiled in a liquor scam. He also targeted the Congress government of the state in the matter of law and order, alleging that the law and order in the state has deteriorated under the rule of Ashok Gehlot. He said, whether it is crime against women or atrocities against Dalits, everyday one or the other news is coming from Rajasthan. The law and order situation is deteriorating.. Just think what image has been made of Rajasthan.

Thakur was here to attend a program organized by a local newspaper at Birla Auditorium. On the question asked about the allegations of religious conversion in Rajasthan, Thakur said that the state government should take appropriate action within the purview of the law. Thakur said, I think the state government should also take action under the law and the Supreme Court has also expressed concern that such cases are not good for the country in the long run.

This will pose challenges and I hope that the Government of Rajasthan will take appropriate action on the issue of conversions. The state BJP on Tuesday reacted to newlyweds allegedly taking an oath to renounce Hinduism and convert to Buddhism during a mass marriage ceremony in Bharatpur, saying conversions were on the rise in the Congress-ruled state.
