There will be no scientific investigation of carbon dating and ‘Shivling’ in the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi. Today, Varanasi District Judge Krishna Vishvesh dismissed the petition seeking carbon dating of Shivling. This decision given by the court has shocked the Hindu side.
Let us tell you that carbon dating is the scientific method with the help of which the age of any old object can be estimated. This technique was discovered in 1949 by University of Chicago scientist Willard Libby. In the Gyanvapi case on behalf of the Hindu side, there was a demand to investigate how old the Shivling is by carbon dating.
The court has said in its decision that as per the order of the Supreme Court, the place where the Shivling is found in the premises should be protected. But carbon dating could potentially harm it and hurt people’s sentiments. Therefore carbon dating cannot be allowed.
After the court’s decision, Madan Mohan Yadav, counsel for the Hindu side, told the media that our demand for carbon dating has been rejected by the court. The court has said that there should be no tampering with Shivling. It’s not needed now. We will put our point in the High Court also because life can be lived on the test of science.
