Junior Hockey World Cup: England removed from Junior Hockey World Cup to be held in India, explained this reason

Junior Hockey World Cup: England withdrew from next month’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cup tournament in India. Here he has taken this decision citing the mandatory 10-day isolation under the Kovid-19 rules for British citizens. The Junior Hockey World Cup tournament is to be played in Bhubaneswar from November 24 to December 5. Earlier in September, Australia had also decided to withdraw from this tournament due to the Kovid-19 protocol. Let us tell you that India has imposed similar restrictions on all British citizens coming to the country as are imposed on Indian citizens in Britain.

The England Hockey Federation has said in its statement that it has informed the International Hockey Federation (FIH) of its decision to withdraw from the Junior Hockey World Cup tournament. Team performance director Ed Barney said, “It is with a sad heart that we have decided to withdraw from the Junior Hockey World Cup tournament to be held in India. We deeply sympathize with the players and coaches who have taken this opportunity to represent their country. Will miss you.”

In these circumstances it is not possible to participate in the World Cup.

The Hockey Association said in its statement, “The Government of India on Friday announced a mandatory 10-day isolation for citizens coming from the UK. Keeping in mind the mental health of players and support members, amidst many concerns related to Kovid. It is not possible for us to participate in this tournament.”

Australia has also withdrawn its name

Earlier, Australia has also announced to withdraw from the Junior Hockey World Cup tournament due to the Kovid-19 protocol. Hockey Australia CEO Michael Johnston said, “In this period of COVID-19, based on a travel risk assessment and health advice from the Australian Government, Hockey Australia is currently on foreign tours related to hockey. Apart from the Junior Hockey World Cup tournament to be held in India and the Pro League in Australia later this year, the Junior Women’s World Cup in South Africa, the Indoor World Cup in Belgium and the Masters Indoor to be held in the US in 2022. Won’t even take part in the World Cup.

This World Cup will be played in Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The FIH Junior Hockey World Cup tournament is scheduled to be played from November 24 to December 5 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar this year. India is the current champion of this tournament. In 2016, India won the title by defeating Belgium 2-1 in the final of the tournament played at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in Lucknow. Let us tell you that the Senior Hockey World Cup is also to be played in the Kalinga Stadium in January 2023.
