Good News! Traveling has become cheaper, you will have to pay less fare for traveling by bus, the government has reduced rates
Bus Fare Drop: With the reduction in excise duty and VAT on diesel, the Odisha government has reduced the fares of passenger buses. According to an order issued by the State Transport Authority (STA), the fare for ordinary and express buses has been reduced by 5 paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses has been reduced by 10 paise per km.
How much was the cut?
Similarly, the fare of super premium buses has also been cut by 15 paise per kilometer. The bus fares in Odisha were last revised on 16 October following the hike in diesel price.
Petrol-diesel became cheaper
The STA said, “The price of diesel per liter has come down from Rs 102.34 per liter on October 16, 2021 to Rs 91.61 per liter on Saturday, thereby reducing the price by Rs 10.73, for all stages other than town buses running within the state.” The carriage fare will be fixed at the reduced rate. This order will be effective from the date of issue.”
Reduced fare of ordinary buses
While the fare of ordinary buses has been reduced from 92 paise to 87 paise per km, the fare of express buses has been reduced from 96 paise to 91 paise per km. Similarly, the fare of deluxe buses has been reduced from Rs 1.35 per km to Rs 1.25 and for AC deluxe buses from Rs 1.73 to Rs 1.53 per km.

Also, passengers in Super Deluxe will now have to pay Rs 2.38 per km instead of Rs 2.53 per km. Recently, the central government had cut excise duty on diesel by Rs 10 per liter, while the Odisha government reduced VAT on fuel by 4 per cent (about Rs 3 per litre).
