Dr. Verghese Kurien’s birthday today
Dr. Verghese Kurian : Today is the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution in India. He has played an important role in making India the largest producer of milk, a country suffering from shortage of milk. He was born on 26 November 1921 in Kozhikode, Kerala. His birthday is celebrated as National Milk Day. It was started in the year 2014. Today, on the occasion of the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien, congratulations were given on social media. Leaders were also involved in this.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari wrote that humble greetings to the father of Indian White Revolution, Padma Vibhushan Varghese Kurien ji on his birth anniversary.
At the same time, Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant wrote that the father of white revolution in India, Dr. Verghese Kurien, on his birth anniversary.
Let us tell you that Dr. Kurien started the ‘Operation Flood’ program along with bringing white revolution in India. Under his leadership, several important institutions were established, including the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). These institutions played an important role in shaping the dairy cooperative movement across the country and promoted the Anand model cooperative dairy across the country.
Dr. Kurien always considered himself an employee working for the farmers. In his service of more than fifty years, he has received 15 degrees from various institutions of the world. Dr. Kurien believed that learning should never stop. Dr. Kurien received many awards for his great works. These include Roman Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership, Padma Shri Award, Padma Bhushan Award, Krishi Ratna Award, Wattler Peace Prize, Carnegie Foundation Award, World Food Award Winner, World Deriexpo, International Award and International Award by the Continental Medal of Excellence, USA Vibhushan is included.
