Corona Booster Dose India: In view of the spread of the Omicron variant of the corona virus, there is a demand for a booster dose of the vaccine in India as well. Now a big study has been started in the country regarding this, in which it will be found out that how many antibodies are made in people from Covaxin, Covishield and Sputnik V Vaccines. And now a booster dose is needed or not.

The Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India has started a study on 3000 participants. All these participants have received the second dose of the vaccine 6 months ago. All the three vaccines being implemented in India will be covered in this study.

Why is a booster dose applied?

Actually, the purpose of the vaccine is to produce antibodies against the corona in the body. But this immunity is only for a short time, so a booster is applied to maintain the effectiveness of the vaccine. Many other vaccines also require a booster dose. This study has been launched to find out how long the vaccines of Kovishield, Covaxin and Sputnik maintain immunity in the people of India. If the immunity generated by vaccines has started declining, to what extent it has decreased and whether there is a need to give boosters immediately, these questions remain to be answered by this study.

In this study, blood samples of the participants will be taken and their examination will be seen to see what is the status of immunity in the cells. If T-cells are active in the body, then they guarantee immunity for a long time. These are the cells that recognize the virus. Similarly, B cells also make antibodies. In this study, the T and B cells of the participants will be examined.

three types of immunity

There are three types of immunity. One is the normal immunity, which is formed naturally in the body after corona infection. The second is Vaccine Immunity. And the third is hybrid immunity. This means that if a person has got corona infection and has also got the vaccine, then hybrid immunity is formed in that person’s body. This immunity is the strongest. It is formed by combining the immunity of the vaccine and the natural immunity obtained after getting rid of the disease.
