China’s nefarious designs: surveillance on Taiwan with fighter planes
Taipei. The Defense Ministry of Taiwan has said that 36 Chinese fighter and bomber aircraft have flown around the country. China claims self-governing Taiwan as its territory and from time to time carries out such exercises with the intention of threatening it.
The ministry said that 10 planes took off on Saturday over the midline in the Taiwan Strait that separates Taiwan from China. These included six Shenyang J-11 and four J-16 aircraft.
After the civil war in 1949, Taiwan and China were separated and the mainland was occupied by the Communist Party. Taiwan has never been part of the People’s Republic of China, but China has always maintained that it can annex Taiwan by force if necessary. (Language)
