Cannes 2022: R Madhavan’s Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was India’s official selection for its world premiere at the 75th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. During the prime time of 9 pm at the prestigious Palais des Festivals, R Madhavan and ISRO’s genius and space scientist, Nambi Narayanan, walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival amidst much excitement.
And it’s no surprise that the film immediately brought the audience to the edge of their seats. Such was the grand world premiere that Rocketry: The Nambi Effect and Top Gun: Maverick became the most talked about films at the festival! Not only that! The biographical drama based on the life and times of Nambi Narayanan received a standing ovation from the Fool House at the Palais des Festivals for a full ten minutes. Everyone from minister Anurag Thakur to music legend AR Rahman was trying to capture every part of the film.
Reacting to the stupendous reception the film received at the Cannes Film Festival, actor-turned-director R Madhavan said, “I am overwhelmed and excited. This is a real moment for all of us at Team Rocketry! Humble and grateful to God’s grace. Thank you for all your love and support.” Now it is set to release on July 1.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is the directorial debut of R Madhavan. Staged on a massive scale, the film has been shot in India, France, Canada, Georgia and Serbia. With a powerful ensemble cast of acclaimed international actors like Phyllis Logan, Vincent Rita and Ron Donchi and guest appearances by superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya, the film will release on 1 July 2022 across the world including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. It will be released in six languages.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is produced by Tricolor Films, Verghese Moolan Pictures and 27 Investments. The film is being distributed in India by UFO Movies and Red Giant Movies and will be distributed internationally by Yash Raj Films and Fars Film Company.
