Britain: Tensions rising between Hindu and Muslim communities
Leicester. The tension that started over a cricket match between India and Pakistan still hasn’t calmed down. The violence that broke out between the two communities is still not pacified. Both the communities are accusing each other of inciting violence. The Indian Embassy in Britain has also expressed concern to the UK government regarding the safety of its citizens. This kind of violence has never been seen before in the UK.
According to the BBC report, this tension started in late August over a cricket match between India and Pakistan. A total of 47 people have been arrested in this case. The fight is also going on on social media regarding this matter. On Wednesday, officials urged people not to share rumors and fake posts on social media.
In the footage going viral on social media, groups from both Hindu and Muslim sides are shown. In which some people are allegedly seen vandalizing religious symbols. In one of the footage, some people are seen chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ while marching on streets with a predominantly Muslim population. In another video posted online, a man is seen removing the religious flag by climbing onto the roof of a Hindu temple located on Belgrave Road.
In another video posted by the temple on its Facebook page, a group of men set a temple flag on fire.
