Ashwin’s play was decided in the Lord’s Test, but the rain turned villain for the star spinner
IND Vs ENG: In the first two matches of the Test series being played against England, Team India did not give a chance to its best spinner R Ashwin. Ashwin has made a shocking disclosure about being a part of the playing 11 in the Lord’s Test. Ashwin says that he did not get a place in the team due to rain before the start of the Lord’s Test.
Ashwin said he was asked to be ready to play the second Test against England in view of the London heat but rain on the day of the match dashed his hopes of a place in the playing 11.
India then stuck to the strategy of landing with four fast bowlers. This strategy proved to be effective. The fast bowlers took 19 wickets and played a key role in helping India win by 151 runs. Ashwin said, “What was the weather forecast for the match? A hot summer was predicted. The funny thing is that before the match, they were saying, Lu is running, you be ready. You can play.”
Ashwin considers the weather as the reason
Ashwin believes that the reason for his not playing in the Lord’s Test proved to be the weather. The star spinner said, “It was raining when we came for breakfast. The weather is not in our hands.
Team India’s fielding coach R Sridhar has admitted that keeping Ashwin out is not easy. He said, “The team has a great bowling attack and it is not easy to keep the best spinner in the world out of the playing XI.”
Let us tell you that despite being in excellent form, R Ashwin has to sit out of the team. Ashwin played a great role in the series wins against Australia and England. Not only this, R Ashwin was also seen in excellent form in the World Test Championship final played in England.
