Rashid Khan’s parents wanted to make him a doctor, son became a spinner
Rashid Khan: Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne is considered one of the legendary spinners. He has many big records in his name. He took 708 wickets in 145 Test matches while playing for Australia. Apart from this, he took 293 wickets in 194 ODI matches. When the ball was in his hand, the batsmen of the opposing team did not understand how to face them.
In 2006, he became the first bowler to achieve the 700th Test wicket against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, one of the most dangerous leg spinners of modern times, Rashid Khan was not a fan of Australian spinner Shane Warne when he was growing up.
He disclosed this in the popular web-show ‘Breakfast with Champions’ sometime back. He said that he likes Anil Kumble and Shahid Afridi as his idols. Both the bowlers in the subcontinent depended on speed rather than swinging the ball. Due to which both the bowlers achieved great success in their careers. Rashid Khan in a chat show called “Breakfast with Champion” said, “Shane Warne was a big spinner at that time, but I didn’t like him much. Afridi and Kumble were my inspirations because they bowled fast unlike Warne. “
Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has impressed everyone with his stellar bowling performance over the years. He said that initially I was never interested in bowling. I was the batsman and used to open the innings. I was good at it and used to score runs too. However, after some time my friends told me that I am better at bowling.
The young spinner also revealed that his family always wanted him to become a doctor. Not only this, he himself wanted to become a doctor. He said, “My mother wanted me to become a doctor as there is no doctor in our family. I was a good student in class 9-10. I used to come in top 5.
B wanted to become a doctor because at that time I was very interested in studies.
