Britain, Italy, Japan team up for new fighter jet, Rishi Sunak will announce cooperation between the three countries
London. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is set to announce a collaboration between Britain, Italy and Japan to develop a new fighter aircraft using artificial intelligence. The BBC reported that Prime Minister Sunak said the aim of the joint venture is to create thousands of jobs and strengthen security in the UK.
He told that these countries will develop the next generation fighter aircraft by the mid-2030s which will replace the Typhoon aircraft. The new Tempest aircraft is expected to carry modern weapons. Work is already underway to develop this and it will assist pilots with advanced sensors along with aircraft speed and artificial alertness when they are under extreme stress.
It can fly without a pilot if needed and can also fire hypersonic missiles. Building such a complex aircraft is extremely expensive. That’s why Britain is looking for partners. Italy was already on board and the inclusion of Japan is an important step forward. At a time when Britain is building closer ties with allies in the Indo-Pacific region, there is concern about a more assertive China. Other countries may still join the program.
