New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to list for hearing on Friday a fresh petition filed by activist Gautam Navlakha in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist nexus case. Navlakha has not been shifted to his house arrest despite the apex court’s direction.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud took note of the submission of the top advocate appearing for Navlakha that the apex court’s direction to place his client under house arrest has not yet been implemented.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the National Investigation Agency (NIA), told the court that instead of giving his home address, the accused has given the address of Communist Party’s office and a separate petition will also be filed in this regard.
To this, the apex court said that the petitions of both the probe agency and the accused would be listed together before a bench headed by Justice KM Joseph.
The Supreme Court had on November 10 allowed 70-year-old Navlakha to be placed under house arrest in view of his deteriorating health.
