Number of air passengers in the country crosses 1 crore again, 65% more people flew in September

Domestic air passengers grew 64.61 per cent year-on-year to 1.03 crore in September this year. This information was given in the data released by aviation safety regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday.
The data shows that Indian domestic flights (excluding the newly launched Akash Air) carried a total of 76.6 lakh passengers on the local route to the destination. Akash Air has started its flight services on domestic routes from August 7 this year.
The DGCA data shows that the average passenger load factor (PLF) of these airlines stood at 77.5 per cent in August 2022 as against 72.5 per cent in August 2022. The PLF shows how much the airline used its passenger capacity. In terms of market share, IndiGo accounted for 57 per cent of the total domestic traffic.
Indio served 59.72 lakh passengers through its flights. It was followed by expansion with a market share of 9.96 per cent, which carried 9.96 lakh passengers to the destination. Vistara, Air India and AirAsia India had a combined market share of 24.7 per cent in September.
