Trinamool’s campaign derailed
When West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came to Delhi a few days after winning the assembly elections last year, many leaders joined her party in a big procession. His promotional team created an event. Ashok Tanwar, who was the President of Haryana Pradesh Congress, joined the Trinamool Congress. Kirti Azad, who left the BJP and returned home to the Congress, and Janata Dal U’s Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Verma also joined the Trinamool. At the same time, going to Goa, Mamta Banerjee got many leaders and celebrities included in her party.
It seemed then that Mamata Banerjee had dominated the national political arena and would be the main opposition against the BJP. But not even six months passed and the picture changed. Ashok Tanwar, who joined his party, went to the Aam Aadmi Party. Where is Kirti Azad, he has no idea. Earlier it was being said that he would contest the vacant Lok Sabha seat of Asansol on a Trinamool ticket, but Mamta Banerjee fielded Shatrughan Sinha from this seat. That is why Kirti Azad is also disillusioned. Mamta has made Pawan Verma the national vice president of the party and she is also with the party, but given the kind of politics going on inside the party and the family, she has kept political activism to a minimum.
On the other hand, all the party leaders and celebrities in Goa are now looking for another way. Not a single Trinamool leader, including Churchill Alemao, could win any seat. In contrast, the Aam Aadmi Party won two seats. Therefore, the first choice of leaders who wish to do politics apart from both the Congress and the BJP is now the Aam Aadmi Party. Mamta had also invited tennis player Leander Paes and film actress Nafisa Ali to attend the party but they too are of no use.
So, Mamta Banerjee won the West Bengal Assembly elections on May 2, 2021, and within 10 months coming to March 10, 2022, the atmosphere created by her victory ended and the momentum shifted towards the Aam Aadmi Party. As soon as the Aam Aadmi Party won the Punjab elections, everyone’s attention shifted from Trinamool Congress to it. After winning Bengal, the way Mamata ran for many states, Arvind Kejriwal is now running the same race. He went to Gujarat with the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann and now his road show is going to be held in Himachal Pradesh. Mamata’s campaign is believed to have been derailed due to the recent incidents of political violence in West Bengal and the ongoing tussle within the family over nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
