19 states got Rs 8453 crore for strengthening health infrastructure in urban-rural areas

Health Care Infrastructure: In order to strengthen the health infrastructure infrastructure in the rural and urban areas of the country, the Central Government has approved health sector grants in 19 states in rural and urban areas. Rs 8453.92 crore has been released to the rural and urban local bodies.
The Finance Ministry has issued a statement saying that the Department of Expenditure under it has released this amount to these 19 states on the basis of the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. . The amount to be given to the remaining 9 states will be released after the proposal comes from their side through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The 15th Finance Commission in its report has recommended a total of Rs 4,27,911 crore to local bodies from 2021-22 to 2025-26. In which Rs 70,051 crore is to be given for improving health infrastructure, in which Rs 42,928 crore is to be given to local rural bodies and Rs 26,123 crore is to be given to urban bodies.

It is believed that this amount given to the states will help in strengthening the health system and removing the shortcomings and shortcomings present in them. The 15th Finance also identified issues so that facilities can be increased along with improving the primary healthcare infrastructure of urban and rural areas. This includes augmenting diagnostic infrastructure in primary healthcare facilities in rural areas, construction of buildings, public health centres, child health centers and converting them into health and wellness centres.
Urban and rural bodies can play a big role in achieving the goal of Universal Healthcare by providing Primary Health Care Services and especially during pandemic decisions. The Finance Ministry has said in its statement that the monitoring of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Bodies will help in strengthening the primary healthcare institutions, as well as involving the local government will also help in making the health infrastructure accountable to the public.
