Youth arrested for stalking pregnant woman

Thane. A 19-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly stalking and sexually abusing a pregnant woman in Mumbra of Thane city in Maharashtra. Police said on Saturday that the incident took place on Thursday and the accused was arrested on Friday. Kripali Bourse, assistant police inspector of Mumbra police station, said that when the victim was going to her maternal home from her in-laws’ place, the accused allegedly followed her and sexually assaulted her on the way.

He told that the youth also threatened the woman and then fled from the spot. According to the official, the woman lodged a police complaint, on the basis of which sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were registered against the accused. A case has been registered under sections 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Borse said the police formed a few teams to trace the accused. They scanned the CCTV footage and arrested the accused. The accused is a resident of Amrit Nagar area of ​​Mumbra.
