Breakfast With Champions: Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif can never forget the date of 13 July 2002. It was a memorable day for Kaif (Mohammad Kaif). Because he played a major role in India’s NatWest series win against England. Chasing 326 runs given by England, India had lost the gifts of players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Sourav Ganguly. At that time Team India seemed to be surrounded by a lot of difficulties.

But in that match, Kaif scored an unbeaten 87 and gave India a 2 wicket win in the last over. The celebration after the victory is even more memorable. The captain of the Indian team at that time was Ganguly, who waved his T-shirt at Lord’s after the victory.

Some time back, former India cricketer Kaif, in a conversation with Gaurav Kapoor on Breakfast with Champions, revealed that his parents did not watch that match live. Because after the dismissal of Sachin, he had lost the hope of victory for the Indian team. He did not see me batting live in that match. After Sachin got out, my parents went to the theater to watch SRK starrer ‘Devdas’.

Kaif said, “It was an opportunity for me to prove all the hard work I put in since childhood and it was something I didn’t want to let go of. I remember when Sachin Tendulkar was going out and when I was entering the Lord’s ground, it was a common belief that when Sachin is out, India lose the match. Five wickets had fallen for 146 runs.

He said, “Actually, my parents went to watch the film after Sachin got out, I have a theater near my house, where they went to see Shahrukh’s film ‘Devdas’. Didn’t see their son playing When we won the match, the entire colony came to my house, the door was closed.
