Women’s cricket team in final of Commonwealth Games

Birmingham, England has joined the top five countries in the medal tally of the ongoing 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. India’s winning streak in wrestling continues. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s cricket team has created history in the Commonwealth Games. India defeated England by four runs in the semi-final match to enter the final. Women’s cricket was included for the first time in the Commonwealth Games and the Indian team has made it to the final for the first time.

Batting first after winning the toss, Team India scored 164 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana scored 61 runs in 32 balls. Jemima Rodriguez scored 44 runs in 31 balls. In reply, England’s team could score only 160 runs in 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Captain Nate Shiver scored the highest 41 runs. Sneh Rana took the highest two wickets for India.

Till the time of writing the news, matches were going on in the Commonwealth Games for the ninth day. Indian wrestlers have gone out to play the medal round match. Pooja Gehlot has won the bronze medal in the 50kg category. She defeated Christelle Lemoffac of Scotland 12-2. With this, India has 31 medals. At the same time, two Indian wrestlers Ravi Dahiya and Naveen Kumar have reached the finals of their respective categories and will bet for gold. Nikhat Zareen will also play for the gold medal in boxing.
