Will waive dues of private residential buildings if voted to power in MCD: Anil Chowdhary

New Delhi. The Delhi unit of the Congress on Wednesday said it will waive dues of private residential buildings if the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is voted to power in the upcoming elections. The party’s Delhi unit chief Anil Chowdhary, while launching the House Tax-Pila Maaf, Ugla Half campaign, said his party would reduce property tax by 50 per cent.

He said, it is unfortunate that the BJP looted and threatened citizens in the name of house tax in Delhi. We will waive off dues of private residential buildings within a month and ensure that no house is charged more than half of the current property tax. Anil Chowdhary said the Congress’s Delhi unit would constitute a municipal valuation committee, which would re-classify colonies under the MCD and unit area rates would be decided based on the category of roads where the properties are located.

We will also ensure basic standards of civic infrastructure and services in all habitations and strengthen the Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC) project, he said. Voting for the MCD elections in Delhi will be held on December 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 7.
