In his resignation letter sent to Governor Anandiben Patel, Maurya has said, ‘I resign from the Yogi cabinet of Uttar Pradesh due to the grossly neglectful attitude of Dalits, backwards, farmers, unemployed youth and small-small and medium-scale traders.’

After the resignation of Swami Prasad Maurya, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav shared a picture, in which Maurya is seen standing with him. In such a situation, it is being said that Maurya is turning to the Samajwadi Party.

Maurya has a long political experience in the politics of UP. He was born on 2 January 1954 in Pratapgarh, UP. Presently he is 68 years old.

Maurya has studied from Allahabad University. He has Bachelor of Law degree. Apart from this, he has also done MA. His main occupation is agriculture and advocacy.

how is political life

Swami Prasad Maurya had joined BJP even before the 2017 UP assembly elections. He left the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to join the BJP.

He started his political career in 1980. He became a member of the State Working Committee of Allahabad Yuva Lok Dal and was the General Secretary from June 1981 to 1989. After this, from 1989 to 1991, he played the role of Chief Secretary in the UP Lok Dal and from 1991 to 1995 was the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Janata Dal.

In 1996, he joined the BSP and became the general secretary of the state. After that he never looked back. Since then, he has been an MLA for 5 times and became a cabinet minister several times.
