Will decide on ‘rule of majority’

Gandhinagar. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajeev Kumar on Tuesday said the Election Commission of India is on the issue of recognizing Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s faction as the “real” Shiv Sena and allotting it the party’s bow and arrow symbol. Will implement the ‘rule of majority’ through a transparent process. He made this statement after the Supreme Court allowed the Election Commission to continue hearing the petition of the Shinde faction.

The CEC said that the Election Commission has a transparent process of “rule of majority” and will implement it after looking into the matter. When asked about the Supreme Court order, he said, “There is already an established procedure. That process empowers us and we define it as a very transparent process by applying the ‘law of majority’. Whenever we look into this matter, we will apply the ‘rule of majority’. This will be done after reading the judgment of the Supreme Court.
