Three government employees died after the vehicle fell into the ditch

Bhaderwah/Jammu. Three government employees were killed and one was seriously injured when a vehicle rammed into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Monday. Police gave this information. Expressing grief over the accident, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered the district administration to provide all possible help to the injured officer. Local police station in-charge (SHO) Bhuvinder Kotwal said that a team of Road and Building Department was in the vehicle and the accident took place near Asar on Batote-Kishtwar National Highway at around 10.45 am. He said the vehicle fell into a 200-metre deep gorge, killing Poonch executive engineer Rafiq Shah, Udhampur assistant executive engineer Kamal Kishore Sharma and driver Mohammad Hafeez.

The SHO said that the superintendent engineer Suresh Kumar was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to poor visibility due to fog and heavy rain, he said. Sinha wrote on Twitter: Saddened by the loss of lives due to the accident in Doda, my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The injured get well soon. The district administration has been directed to provide all possible help. Assar, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Tanveer Ahmed said that the injured officer is being shifted to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu for specialized treatment.

He said Kumar was brought to the hospital along with the three bodies. The postmortem of the dead is being done and after completing the necessary formalities, the bodies will be handed over to their families for last rites. The BMO said Kumar’s condition is stable but he will be shifted to GMC Hospital Jammu for further investigation as CT scan facility is not available here while the road leading to GMC Doda has been closed due to landslide.
