India vs New Zealand Kanpur Test: New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson on Thursday said his team will have to try and take advantage of the second new ball when it comes to bowling on the second morning of the first Test against India. New Zealand’s first attempt will be to break the big partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja. On the first day at stumps, both of them made 113 runs for the fifth wicket, taking India to 254 for four after the setbacks in the second session.

Jamieson performed brilliantly on the first day with three wickets for 47 runs. After the first day’s play, he said, “Hopefully the new ball will swing a little more in the morning and we can get them out. We need a good start in the morning.”

Taking the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane, this tall bowler took India’s score to 145 for four in the second session. Although debutants Iyer and Jadeja played a good partnership and brought India back into rhythm and this New Zealand fast bowler also accepted this.

Jamieson said, “I think India are leading a little bit. We stopped them well by giving them jerks.” India ended the day well despite losing three wickets in the second session on a varied bouncy pitch. Jamieson, who is playing only his third Test on foreign soil, said, “I didn’t get much swing. There was some swing in the beginning and it fluctuated a bit.”
