The election of the assembly in Adampur seat of Haryana is becoming a battle for supremacy on the politics of the state. The election of Adampur has also become interesting due to the family politics of famous Tiktok star and BJP candidate Sonali Phogat. Sonali Phogat died under suspicious circumstances in Goa recently. At first, his family members had said that no one would contest elections from him. But now Sonali Phogat’s sister Rukesh Punia has been handed over a political legacy by the family unitedly and it is being said that she will contest the elections. If this happens then the biggest problem will be for BJP.
Kuldeep Bishnoi is a natural contender from the BJP side. He was a Congress MLA and the seat fell vacant after his resignation. He has joined BJP and it is believed that BJP will give ticket to him. The last time Sonali Phogat fought against him on a BJP ticket. But this time BJP cannot give ticket to anyone in Phogat family instead of Kuldeep Bishnoi. The problem before the BJP is that if Sonali Phogat’s sister is ready to contest the election and Congress or Aam Aadmi Party gives her a ticket, what will happen? The polarization of Jat votes will be heavy for the BJP. It is true that the Bishnoi family has been winning this seat for the last 54 years but the equations can change at some point. There will be a possibility for the BJP only if no one from the Phogat family contests or the Congress does not give him a ticket. If Congress fields another Jat candidate and Rakesh Punia also contests, then BJP can benefit from Jat division.
