US kills Zawahiri with a drone

Washington, Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a US airstrike in Afghanistan. US President Joe Biden himself announced the death of Zawahiri. Al Zawahiri and Osama bin Laden co-planned the 9/11 attacks on America. Osama bin Laden was killed by US Navy Seals in an operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan on May 2, 2011.

Zawahiri became the leader of Al Qaeda after Osama bin Laden was killed in American action. US President Joe Biden said on Monday that Zawahiri was killed in a CIA drone strike on Saturday evening in Kabul. Zawahiri was hiding with his family in a house in Kabul. It is believed that after the Taliban took over the power of Afghanistan, he started living in Kabul. He is considered close to the pro-Pakistan Haqqani faction.

However, President Biden said – justice was done and this terrorist was killed. Zawahiri, a resident of Egypt, is a doctor by profession. He had a $25 million bounty on him. He first worked under bin Laden’s shadow and later took over the reins of Al Qaeda as his successor. Zawahiri was killed in 2011, nearly 11 years after bin Laden was killed. Biden said in an address at the White House on Monday evening – I had given permission for that attack, so that it could be ended forever.

According to officials, Zawahiri was in the balcony of a house when two missiles were fired at him by the drone. The rest of his family members were also present there, but they have not suffered any injuries, only Zawahiri has been killed. The US hit Zawahiri with a special type of drone missile, in which there was no explosion and there was no harm to the people around.

Biden said – he was instrumental in plotting the 9/11 attacks. The deadliest attack on American soil killed 2,977 people. For decades he plotted several attacks against the Americans. The President said- Now, justice has been done and this terrorist leader has been killed. The world no longer needs to be afraid of this ruthless killer.
