UP: 20-20 years imprisonment for three convicts of raping a minor

Bahraich. In the case of raping a minor nine years ago in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, the court of the Special Additional Sessions Judge has sentenced the three convicts to 20-20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh each. has been sentenced.

Special Additional District Government Advocate (Poxo Act) Sant Pratap Singh said on Saturday that in January 2014, a resident of a village under Jarwal Road police station area, wooed his 15-year-old sister against three youths from Barabanki. A complaint was lodged for kidnapping by allurement.

According to Singh, the police later recovered the girl and added relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act to the case on the basis of her statement given in the court under section 164. Under Section-164, the statement is given by the victim in a closed room in the court in the absence of police and advocates.

According to the prosecution, on Friday, Additional Sessions Judge/Special Judge Varun Mohit Nigam of Bahraich-based POCSO court sentenced Kamlesh, Raju and Shivpal, involved in the crime, to 20-20 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs one lakh each. Prosecutors said that in case of non-payment of the fine, the convicts would have to undergo additional imprisonment of one year each.
