Shinde CM, Fadnavis Deputy CM

Mumbai The political drama, which lasted for about 10 days in Maharashtra, remained full of mystery and thrill even till the end. After the resignation of Uddhav Thackeray, BJP Legislature Party leader Devendra Fadnavis, who was ready to take oath as the Chief Minister, received a major setback. His party gave the chief minister’s post to rebel Shiv Sena MLA Eknath Shinde and Fadnavis had to be content with the deputy chief minister’s post. The oath was administered to both of them at Raj Bhavan at 7.30 pm on Thursday. The rest of the cabinet members will take oath later.

It is worth noting that since Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday night, Devendra Fadnavis was getting congratulations and it seemed fixed to become the Chief Minister. But in the evening, Fadnavis himself announced at a press conference that Eknath Shinde would take oath as the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra at 7.30 pm. Along with this, Fadnavis had also announced that he would not be a part of the Shinde government in the state and would support him from outside.

After a while the whole picture changed. Appealing to him, BJP national president JP Nadda said that he should become the deputy chief minister in the Shinde government. It is being told that at the behest of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda, Fadnavis agreed to join the government. Till around 7 pm, only two chairs were set up on the stage in the Raj Bhavan. One for the Governor and the other for Eknath Shinde. But just before half past seven, a third chair was put on the stage.

However, earlier in the day the leader of the rebel MLAs, Eknath Shinde, reached Mumbai and Fadnavis accompanied him and met the Governor and submitted a proposal to form the government. The governor invited him to form the government. It is believed that this bet of BJP is to weaken Uddhav Thackeray. Keep in mind that he had said that if a Shiv Sainik becomes the Chief Minister, he will support him. With the rebel leader Eknath Shinde becoming the chief minister, it will now become easier for them to capture the Shiv Sena.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both of them after Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis took oath. He tweeted and said- I congratulate Eknath Shinde ji on taking oath as the new CM of Maharashtra. He is a grassroots leader. His experience in politics will take Maharashtra to new heights. Congratulating Fadnavis on becoming the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, he said that Devendra Fadnavis is an inspiration to every BJP worker. His experience is going to prove to be very beneficial for the state government.
