This player’s bat proved to be very lucky for Rohit Sharma, luck changed

Breakfast with Champions: Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik was seen some time back in the talk show ‘Breakfast with Champions’, where he revealed many interesting things. Dinesh Karthik had told during the interview that Rohit Sharma had scored his first half-century for India’s national team with his bat.

Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 32 T20 matches for the Indian team so far. He plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL.

Talking about the T20 World Cup match played between India and South Africa in Kingsmead, Durban in 2007, he said that in the fifth over I was dismissed for a duck by Shaun Pollock. After this Rohit Sharma asked me for the bat and scored an unbeaten half-century in 40 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. He also shared an 85-run partnership with MS Dhoni, who scored 45 off 33 balls before being run out.

In a conversation with Gaurav Kapoor on the Breakfast with Champions show, he said, “His (Rohit Sharma) first international fifty was off my bat. I am very proud of that. Rohit batted brilliantly that day. He played against South Africa with a straight bat and played an amazing innings. No credit to my bat, obviously the credit goes to the batsman. I remember all these things and these things mean a lot to me.”

Rohit’s innings changed the course of the entire match. Because India’s score was 61 for four in the 11th over at one time. Thanks to his brilliant batting, India scored 153 runs. The target of 154 runs proved to be very difficult for South Africa, they could only manage 116 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Rohit became the player of the match for being the highest scorer from both the sides. At that time, he used to be a middle-order batsman, but as his career progressed, he emerged as a lethal opener in all three formats of the game.
