Careful. Relatives of a Dalit acid attack victim woman admitted to a hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad district have accused the local police of trying to cover up the matter. However, the police have denied the allegations made by the family members of the victim.

According to officials, the woman had complained to the police on October 5 that six people had thrown acid on her face and hand due to old political rivalry. Based on the complaint, the police have registered an FIR against Deepu, Bhishma, Rahul and three unidentified persons, he said.

Sambhal Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said that on October 5, a woman (45) resident of Madawali Rasulpur village of Echonda Kaboh police station area complained about acid attack on her, after which the police immediately inspected the spot and Deepu, An FIR has been registered against Bhishma, Rahul and three unidentified persons.

According to Mishra, the said woman was medically examined, during which the doctor told that the wounds and burn marks present on the woman’s body were not of acid attack but of electric shock. According to Mishra, it was also found during the investigation that the said woman was working in the sugarcane field, when the electric wire broke and fell on the crop, due to which the woman got scorched. He told that burnt crop has been found in the field. Apart from this, the accused have also registered cases of acid attack against the victim’s two sons and husband. In view of all these things, it appears that the complaint of the victim was false and we have initiated proceedings to quash the case. (Language)
