Jhansi. A court in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh has convicted eight youths, convicted of gang-rape and robbing a teenager, and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
Special Public Prosecutor Vijay Singh Kushwaha told on Tuesday that on October 11, 2020, a teenager was going to study tuition. Then on the way near the local polytechnic college, some boys kidnapped and gang-raped her and took 3000 rupees online from her by making a video of the incident and threatening to make it public.
Kushwaha said that a case was registered in this regard under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) at Sipri Bazar police station. The accused – Bharat Kumar, Rohit, Sanjay Kushwaha, Dharmendra Sen, Monu, Shailendra, Mayank and Vipin Tiwari were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment.
