LPG connections in the country have increased to 32.5 crore: Hardeep Puri

New Delhi. The government said on Thursday that the number of LPG connections in the country has increased to 325 million this year from 140 million in 2014. During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Puri said that in order to spread awareness among the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and improve the use of LPG, the government and the oil marketing companies have organized LPG Panchayats, campaigns on social media and public programs across the country. have been organized.

He said that in the year 2022-23, a subsidy of Rs 200 was given till the 14.2 kg cylinder is filled 12 times in a year. It may be noted that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched in 2016. Puri said that despite the increase in international prices, the steps taken by the government were able to control domestic gas prices. He said that this year the number of LPG connections was recorded at 32.5 crore which was 14 crore in the year 2014.
