Terror funding busted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara

Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that it has busted a terrorist funding and recruitment module in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Police and the 21 and 47 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) have busted the ongoing insurgency funding and recruitment module in North Kashmir, a police statement said. Army and Kupwara Police launched a joint operation to nab the man from Nutanusa and Lolab areas after receiving multiple information about a person named Bilal Ahmed Dar, a resident of Chirkot area of ​​Kupwara district. .

After interrogation, the man revealed that he along with five others from different parts of North Kashmir was running a terror funding racket under the guise of a fake NGO named Islahi Falahi Relief Trust (IFRT), which helped poor and needy families in monetary terms. claimed to have provided assistance. Officials said Bilal was actively involved in assisting in recruitment and raising funds for terrorist activities by organizing ‘ijtema’ (meetings) in various villages, where he along with other members of the NGO would encourage youth to engage in anti-national activities. I tried to seduce.

Bilal also named other accomplices, including Wahid Ahmed Bhat from Kachlu, Langate and Singhpora, Javed Ahmed Nazar from Baramulla and Mushtaq Ahmed Nazar from Brath Sopore, Bashir Ahmed Mir of Mundji Sopore and Zubair Ahmed Dar of Chirkot, who is Bilal’s cousin, was also actively involved in the module. The group’s modus operandi was to visit various villages and organize events and meetings under the guise of NGOs and then raise funds by soliciting donations and looking for potential soft targets as recruits. Bank accounts in the name of the NGO were being used for money laundering for Tehreek-e-ul Mujahideen Jammu and Kashmir (TUMJK).

The group was also responsible for putting up anti-national posters around August 15 and during the visit of the Union Home Minister to Baramulla. Bilal also admitted to hoisting a Pakistani flag inside the Markazi Jamia Masjid Kupwara on August 14, especially on the instructions of his Pakistani masters. The group was actively collecting explosive material which is known to be used in IEDs. Wahid was the mastermind behind the recruitment and funding module. A huge quantity of arms, ammunition, raw material for preparation of IEDs and incriminating material have also been recovered from all the arrested persons. An FIR has been registered against the accused under various relevant sections of the law at Kupwara police station, the statement said.
