The country is soon going to step into the world of 5G. But the problems of the people regarding the existing 4G network are not taking the name of ending. This is evident from the plethora of complaints from common users. These complaints related to telecom companies are not in thousands or lakhs but in crores. More than 5 crore complaints related to mobile services have been received against telecom companies during the financial year 2021-22. Here the most important ones related to customers like bad network, poor customer service.

AirTel customers most unhappy

Except for the state-owned BSNL, only three companies are in the telecom sector in the country. Here too, the condition of the giant Airtel is the worst. Half of the 5 crore complaints related to telecom companies have been received only against Airtel. The number of complaints against Airtel stood at 2,99,68,519. According to the data received from the government, about 54 percent complaints were received against Airtel alone. It is followed by Vodafone Idea in terms of complaints.

All companies naked in hammam

Airtel is not alone in making customers unhappy, but customers of all companies are suffering from the services. Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chouhan in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha gave the data of complaints received against various telecom service providers related to mobile services during the year 2021-22. According to this, Vodafone-Idea is the worst position after Airtel. There were 2,17,85,460 complaints against it. The number of such complaints against Reliance Jio was 25.8 lakh. In all, around 5.5 crore complaints were lodged by consumers through helpline numbers of telecom service providers at complaint centers during 2021-22.

Are BSNL and MTNL clean?

The number of complaints against state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) stood at 8.8 lakh and 48,170, respectively. Chouhan said, “The complaints received at the complaint centers through customer helpline numbers are resolved by the concerned service provider.”

What to do customer

Chouhan said that if the complaints are not resolved by the service providers, then the complainants can approach the Public Grievances Unit of the Department of Telecom. All complaints so received are monitored and resolved through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS) portal. “The number of complaints received during the year 2021-22 through CPgrams portal was 58,911, out of which 58,224 were resolved,” the minister said.
