Uttar Pradesh: SP-RLD will fight by-elections together

Lucknow. The Samajwadi Party will contest the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha by-elections together with the Rashtriya Lok Dal. In a tweet on Wednesday, the Samajwadi Party said, “Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal will fight together in the upcoming by-elections to be held in Uttar Pradesh. SP candidate will contest on Mainpuri Lok Sabha and Rampur assembly seat and RLD candidate will contest on Khatauli assembly seat.

The Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat fell vacant due to the death of Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, while the Rampur assembly seat fell vacant due to the cancellation of the membership of SP leader Azam Khan and the Khatauli assembly seat due to the cancellation of the membership of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Vikram Saini. Azam and Saini’s membership has been canceled after being sentenced by the court. The by-elections to these seats will be held on December 5.
