Threatened to send to jail, UP constable police suspended

Ayodhya. Four constables of UP Police have been suspended and booked for raiding and sabotage the house of a BJP worker and false cases under the Narcotics and Arms Acts. A station house officer has been sent to the line on charges of conspiracy. Ramesh Kumar Pandey, BJP booth in-charge of Keshavpur Anjana village, said that a team of Purkalandar police station raided his house, ransacked it, detained him and on the eve of Diwali. Took them to the police station. Pandey said that he tried to get in touch with senior BJP leaders but did not get revert due to the Diwali celebrations being held in Ayodhya.

He said that he had to pay 40 thousand rupees to the policemen to free himself. According to Pandey, the policemen had threatened to send him to jail in a false case of narcotics and Arms Act. He again contacted BJP leaders after Diwali, after which the matter came to light from Ayodhya SSP Prashant Verma. The SSP said, “After receiving the written application from the complainant, I conducted an inquiry, in which the police were found prima facie guilty of illegal activity and action was taken against them.” (IANS)
