While addressing a webinar organized by Swadeshi Jagran Manch on the topic of Self-Reliant India Campaign, Hosabale has described poverty as a monster. Sharing the poverty situation and unemployment figures in the country, Hosbale asked to create an environment in which the youth could be made job-seekers and not job-seekers.

Hosbale said, ‘Poverty is like a monster in front of us, we have to defeat this monster. Still 200 million people in the country are below the poverty line. This is very sad for us. There are 23 crore people in the country who earn less than 375 crores daily. Not only this, he said on the issue of unemployment, ‘4 crore people are facing unemployment in the country, while the country currently has 7.6 percent rate of unemployment.’

Self-employment will have to be encouraged

Swabalambi Bharat Abhiyan is being run by the RSS for the last one year. This is an effort of the Sangh through which they are promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment so as to improve the local and rural economic conditions. The RSS had passed a resolution during the Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha in March. In this proposal, he had put the labor intensive ‘Indian Economic Model’. Lack of education, major reason for poverty

Hosbale stressed on another issue that economic inequality is also a big issue in the country. India is included in the 6 largest economies of the world. But is this a good situation? The total income of the top 1 percent of the people of the country is 20 percent. During this, 50 percent of the country’s population is only 13 percent of the total income of the country. Referring to UN poverty and development figures, Hosabale said, “Many places in the country still do not have clean drinking water and nutritious food.” He said behind this the level of education and human struggle is also a big reason behind poverty.
