In the 13th over, Babar scored his 21st half-century in T20 Internationals by hitting a six off Varun Chakraborty. Rizwan also completed his half-century playing the captain well. Babar played an unbeaten 68 off 52 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 79 off 55 balls with the help of 6 fours and three sixes.

Earlier, despite the initial setbacks, India scored a respectable score of 151 for 7 against Pakistan. Captain Virat Kohli stepped on the crease in the first over. He scored 57 runs in 49 balls, which included five fours and a six, before being dismissed in the 19th over. Due to the brilliant bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi (3 for 31), India were struggling at 31 for three at one time.
