4 arrested for triple murder in UP’s Badaun

Badaun. In Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun, the police have arrested four people in connection with the murder of a former district panchayat member, his wife and mother. Four of the six accused have been arrested and the alleged weapon has been recovered, the police said. Two accused are still absconding. The murder took place on Monday night in Sathara village under Ushait police station area. The deceased have been identified as Rakesh Gupta, his wife Sharda and their mother Shanti Devi. According to the police, Ravindra Kumar Dixit had a rivalry with the victim’s family. Dixit’s father was murdered a few years back and Gupta was named in the case.

Both the families also belong to different political parties. Gupta was a leader of the Samajwadi Party and a member of the Zilla Panchayat. He was at his house when some people entered his house and opened fire indiscriminately. All three died as a result. Badaun SP Dr OP Singh said that on the basis of the complaint of the brother of the deceased, an FIR has been registered at Ushait Police Station. Old enmity is said to be the reason behind the murder. Ravindra Dixit, Sarthak Dixit, Archit Dixit and Vikram were named in the FIR. (IANS)
