Why Yashwant Sinha needed to join politics at the age of 85, TMC leader replied

Yashwant Sinha said, “Three years ago I thought that the party will not do politics but will continue to comment on the issues of the country.”

Yashwant Sinha, who held important ministries like finance and external affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, left the party after a long stint in the BJP and joined the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC. Why did he need to enter politics at the age of 85? How much difference will they be able to make in today’s politics? In response to these questions, while talking to a news channel, Yashwant Sinha said that a man does not do this thinking, circumstances make him do it.

Yashwant Sinha said, “Three years ago I thought that the party will not do politics but will keep commenting on the issues of the country. For the same, we had formed a new organization together with people like us – Rashtra Manch. But the situation became such that we thought that the party should return to politics and return to politics again.”

Replying to the question of journalist Prabhu Chawla in Aaj Tak program Sidhi Baat, Yashwant Sinha said, “The issues facing the country today were probably not imagined three years ago. It was necessary to fight against those issues.”

After this, the journalist asked that what was the reason behind joining the regional party TMC by forming an organization called Rashtra Manch? On this Yashwant Sinha said, “You remember the time when I had announced to join TMC and did it, what was the situation in West Bengal at that time. Elections were being held in Bengal, elections were being held in other states as well, but the hype like Bengal elections was not about any other assembly election. All the leaders including India’s PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah had given full strength from the BJP side.

Yashwant Sinha further said, “The BJP was trying with all its might to defeat TMC in Bengal, all the while the game was going on to break the TMC leaders and join the BJP, so I decided to join TMC for this. I will try to stop the stampede.” The former Union minister said that the stampede stopped after he joined the TMC.
