Srikanth beat compatriot Prannoy in the quarterfinals, PV Sindhu also reached the semifinals

Indonesia Masters 2021: Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters on Friday after winning their respective quarterfinal matches. In a quarterfinal match of men’s singles, 2 Indian players were face to face. Here Kidambi Srikanth was up against compatriot HS Prannoy, where Srikanth won. He won the match by defeating Prannoy 21-7, 21-18.

HS Prannoy started the match aggressively and at one point he was leading 5-2 in the first game but after that former number one Srikanth made good shots one after the other and won the game. Earlier, Srikanth defeated sixth seed Jonathan Christie of Indonesia 13-21, 21-18, 21-15 in a match that lasted one hour and two minutes to book a place in the quarterfinals. Prannoy, on the other hand, reached the quarterfinals by defeating Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Viktor Axelsen.

PV Sindhu also reached the semi-finals
In women’s singles, PV Sindhu defeated Neslihan Yigit of Turkey in the quarterfinals. Reigning world champion and third seed Sindhu registered a 21-13, 21-10 win over unseeded Yigit. This is Sindhu’s fourth win against Yigit.

Earlier in the match on Thursday, Sindhu had entered the quarterfinals by defeating 47th ranked player Clara Azurmendi of Spain. Sindhu will now face the winner of the match between top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan and fifth seed Parnpawi Chochuwong of Thailand.
