Pesticides that have been banned in the US and other developed countries are widely used in India. Whereas, environmental and agriculture related organizations have been warning governments and farmers about its ill-effects. In the last few years, the central government has started various initiatives to promote neem coated urea. The government has also been campaigning about its merits. But at the same time the question has also been arising whether the use of this urea has reduced the increasing toxic elements in food grains?

It is worth noting that neem cottic urea is being made in cooperative chemical fertilizer factories in India, but this has not caused any significant reduction in the use of chemical fertilizers, but chemical fertilizers have become more expensive than before. The cost of cultivation has also been increasing continuously for the last several years. In such a situation, progressive farmers have started adopting the option of natural farming. Now farmers have adopted natural or organic farming as a powerful alternative. Significantly, the trend of Indian farmers towards organic or natural farming is increasing continuously. But the central and state governments have not provided those facilities to promote organic farming, which would have facilitated the farmers to do organic farming. Despite this, organic farming is becoming the choice of common farmers.

Agricultural scientists believe that promoting organic or natural farming helps in improving the environment, food, land, human health, and the purity of water. In general, the use of pesticides in crops is considered necessary for better yields and elimination of diseases in agriculture and horticulture. But indigenous farming and horticulture have raised questions about this notion. These pesticides may be considered essential for better yield or to eliminate diseases, but have become the cause of many problems, complications and diseases. It is worth noting that due to lack of knowledge about the diseases and problems caused by the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, farmers have started using them so much that they are now facing new problems due to this.

Despite this, farmers are not able to get rid of their use. The agriculture departments of the central and state governments consider the use of insecticides essential. Since the dominance of multinational companies has increased in the country, since then foreign medicines of pesticides have started being used more for agriculture and horticulture. Because of this, the farmer and his family have started getting sick more than before. Pesticides are used tremendously to increase the yield of crops and fruits and to eliminate the diseases caused by them, but due to their use, the fields are becoming barren and the food and fruits become infected with the chemicals of pesticides, due to this also their Human beings are suffering from many diseases due to use.

Agricultural scientists have been warning about all the serious problems caused by the use of pesticides for years, but neither the central government nor the state governments are paying attention to this. As a result, many serious diseases caused by the use of pesticides are creating a big problem for the people. Edosulfan is the most commonly used insecticide. This is done not only on crops, but also on vegetables and fruits. According to environmentalists, the use of pesticides is having a huge impact on the environment.

One of the reasons for air pollution is the excessive use of pesticides. If seen, many problems of children are arising due to pesticides. These pesticides are the cause of many problems related to cancer, skin diseases, eyes, heart and digestion. It is a matter of view that pesticides which have been banned in America and other developed countries are used indiscriminately in India. Whereas, environmental and agriculture related organizations have been warning governments and farmers about its ill-effects.

The incidence of many diseases and problems is increasing continuously due to the use of pesticides. But on the other hand, experiments are also going on in many parts of the country to get good yield by doing better farming without using them. Farmers of Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh have conducted successful experiments in this direction. In this, instead of insecticides, three-day-old whey was sprayed and dried neem leaves were used. Farmers in nineteen districts of Andhra Pradesh have proved that profitable farming can be done without the use of pesticides by successfully cultivating without pesticides and achieving good yields. This also increases the fertility of the land and does not cause any harm to the environment. Due to such safe experiments, no one gets any kind of disease from food, vegetables and fruits.

The second use has been made of ash. While ash increases the fertility of the soil, it is also very effective in increasing the yield of the crop. Agricultural scientists are very surprised that indigenous farming and horticulture can be made more affordable than modern methods, especially in the matter of keeping crops and vegetables safe. Therefore, there is a need to adopt such experiments by the farmers of the whole country. Now agricultural scientists have also started considering organic farming as beneficial and safe for farmers and farmers. They believe that only through organic farming, farming can come out of losses and become profitable. With this, while the migration from villages to cities will be reduced, at the same time all kinds of problems increasing due to the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides will also be reduced.

Even though farmers are adopting these indigenous farming practices, the central government is not showing any special interest in this direction. The lack of incentives from the Center and the states to the farmers who have done such successful experiments is a proof that the governments are not interested in promoting indigenously safe farming and horticulture. Whereas farming done in a natural way is the balanced and best way for the land, life and environment.

No one can deny that most of the companies manufacturing pesticides are foreign i.e. multinational. Governments are responsible for maintaining these companies and consuming their products. Whereas the indigenous farming method reduces the sale of pesticide products of multinational companies. In such a situation, why would the central government want that indigenous farming should be encouraged. Farmers of North and East India can also get rid of toxic chemicals by adopting better use of farming and horticulture without pesticides. For the propagation of this indigenous technology, organizations seeking the interest of farmers will have to come forward.
