Tehran. An officer of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard was killed in an explosion in Syria. The force gave this information on its website on Wednesday and blamed Israel for this. The force has identified the officer as Colonel Dawood Jafri. The statement warned that Israel would have to answer for this “crime”.
Iran has been a main supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria’s 11-year civil war and has provided thousands of Iranian forces to aid his forces. Many Iranian soldiers have been killed in this war, while Tehran has been saying that it plays only a military advisory role in Syria.
