Cataract treatment is being done for free in Chhattisgarh government hospitals, know about the scheme

The Health Department of Chhattisgarh Government has set a target of reducing blindness in the state by conducting maximum cataract operations in the year 2022-23 through the blindness control program so that no one’s vision is lost due to cataract in the state. For this, health workers, Mitanin and Anganwadi workers prepare a list of visually impaired patients at the block level and confirm the patients through eye assistant officers and mark them for cataract operation.

State Nodal Officer of Health Department’s Blindness Control Program Dr. Subhash Mishra said that in the year 2020-21, a total of 41 thousand 874 cataract operations were done in the state including government and private hospitals, while 85 thousand 178 operations were done in the year 2021-22. went. In the year 2017-18, where 8 thousand 844 cataract patients were successfully operated in government hospitals, it has increased to 16 thousand 295 in the year 2021-22. In this way people’s confidence in government hospitals has increased in the state.

Dr. Mishra informed that now patients suffering from cataract are being treated in the state through the state-of-the-art technology of cataract treatment “Phaco”. No incision is required in this technique. During this method of operation, only a small hole is made in the eye, through which the cataract is dissolved inside the eye and through this only the foldable lens is implanted inside the eye.

Cataract operation facility is available in 13 district hospitals of the state with “Phaco” technique, which include District Hospital Bijapur, Surajpur, Balodabazar, Baikunthpur (Korea), Kondagaon, Dhamtari, Mungeli, Surguja, Bastar, Raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Raipur, and Bilaspur. Huh. A target has been set to make this facility available in all the districts of the state by the year 2023.

The facility of Ayushman scheme is available in all the government hospitals of the state. He said that in the year 2021-22, 5 thousand 69 patients of glaucoma and 8 thousand 667 patients of diabetic retino were identified and treated free of cost and 23 thousand 731 glasses were given to children and 46 thousand 741 glasses to adults in this way. 70 thousand 472 free glasses were distributed.
