Sri Lanka Petrol price has increased by 50 Sri Lankan rupees and diesel by 60 Sri Lankan rupees. Sri Lanka, which is facing economic crisis, has no other option but to increase the price of fuel. Fuel prices in the neighboring country have been raised for the third time in the last two months. Public sector fuel vendor Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said the price hike came into effect from 2 pm on Sunday. Lanka IOC has also increased the prices in the same proportion. With this hike, the price of petrol has gone up to 470 Sri Lankan rupees per liter and diesel to 460 Sri Lankan rupees per liter.

There was a huge increase in the month of May

Sri Lanka had increased the price of petrol and diesel drastically in the month of May as well. On May 22, Sri Lanka increased petrol prices by 24.3 percent and diesel prices by 38.4 percent. Sri Lanka is facing a severe economic crisis due to lack of foreign exchange reserves, due to which this increase is being done continuously. In May, the price of used octane 92 petrol was reduced to Rs 420 ($1.17) per liter and diesel to Rs 400 ($1.11) per liter.

People standing in long line to get fuel

Due to low demand and supply of petrol and diesel, long queues are being seen in Sri Lanka to get fuel. Long queues of vehicles are seen at petrol pumps for diesel and petrol, and people have to stand in queues for several days for fuel. Recently, a 63-year-old truck driver died after standing in line for 5 days at a petrol pump in the western state of Sri Lanka.
